Police responded to an incident near Massapequa High School's main campus Wednesday morning.

MASSAPEQUA, NY. — Massapequa school district officials said Wednesday afternoon that the secure lockout procedure put in place at Massapequa High School Wednesday morning had been lifted.

District officials confirmed that the lockout had been lifted at 2:43 p.m., adding that lockouts traditionally entail, "normal activities taking place within the buildings but no one can enter or exit campus."

The lockout was put in place after police responded to a possible assault near Bay Drive at around 8 a.m., police said. As of 2:55 p.m. that investigation was still ongoing.
