Massapequa to Host 'Shootout for Soldiers'
The 24-hour string of lacrosse matches kicks off July 16.

Town of Oyster Bay is gearing up for a 24-hour “Shootout for Soldiers,” set for July 16 and 17.
The event, which will be held in Field of Dreams on Old Sunrise Highway in Massapequa, will host 24 lacrosse matches in a row to benefit American Military personnel.
“Once again, ‘Shootout for Soldiers’ will be played on Long Island and we are extremely proud and pleased that one of our outstanding Town fields has again been selected as the venue for this highly regarded event,” TOBAY Supervisor John Venditto said. “Everyone who participates in this lacrosse event plays for the both the love of the game and to support those who serve our country.”

The fundraiser collected more than $80,000 last year.
Continuous one-hour sessions will be played for 24 hours straight during the event. Games will begin at 6 p.m. on July 16.

Registered players will be placed on either the Stars or Stripes team and will be matched with similar abilities. All ages and abilities are welcome to take part.
