Massapequa School Board Agenda

Agenda features coaching appointments for remainder of school year, Dignity Act update.

If there's a theme to Thursday's Massapequa Board of Education meeting it is tolerance and respect.

The Board, which meets at 8 p.m., is scheduled to view a presentation on the new Dignity Act and how it's been incorporated into the district website. See attached PDF.

The Dignity Act, which went into effect July 1, seeks to provide the state's public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting and harassment (which includes bullying) on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function

Also on the agenda pending approval is Long Island Crisis Center training of district personnel on the topic of "Making schools safer for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth."

The agenda includes several other personnel matters, including coaching appointments for winter and spring sports.
