Nasasu Man Knifed Friend Over Argument About Open Window: Police

Police say an argument about opening a window led to a man slashing his friend with a knife.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — An argument over closing a bedroom window led to a knife attack in Massapequa yesterday, Nassau County police say.

According to police, around 9:30 p.m., Santiago Real, 49, was arguing with a 55-year-old man about keeping open a window in Real's room. The argument escalated, and police say Real slashed the other man with a small knife, hitting him in the nose, upper arm and chest.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of his wounds. Real was arrested without incident.

Real is charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
