MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY — Before his arrest, accused Gilgo Beach murderer Rex Heuermann had plans to retire at one of the three properties he owns in his $800K portfolio – South Carolina where he owns a 5-plus-acre property near his brother, according to published reports.

Property records show that in 2021 Heuermann bought property on Rippling Brooke Drive, in Chester County, which is about 50 miles south of Charlotte, for around $154,000, Fox News Digital reported.

His brother, Craig Heuermann, is listed as living at the address, the outlet reported.

A neighbor, who lives down the street, told Fox Craig Heuermann said his brother owns a lot across the road and he will retire "down there," adding, when he does, "everybody's leaving."

Another neighbor told the outlet Heuermann planned to "buy everybody out."

The property appears compound-like in nature, surrounded by dense trees, according to a Google image.

Just beyond a simple plastic mailbox on a wooden post, there is a large wooden gate with two signs.

The first sign, which is white says, "Keep Out, No trespassing," in black lettering, while the second wooden underneath, features a black skull and crossbones, with the words, "No Warrant, No Entry," in black lettering.

Just behind the gate, there appears to be a red, plastic motor oil can.

Just inside the gate appears to be cluttered and there is garbage in the driveway, according to an image on Fox News Digital.

Investigators have reportedly pulled two Chevrolet Avalanches from properties owned by Heuermann since his arrest last week – one at his Massapequa Park home and another, at the South Carolina property.

In addition to the South Carolina property, Heuermann also owns a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo that he bought for $16,955 with his wife, Asa Ellerup four years before any of the killings happened, the DailyMail.com reported.

Las Vegas police on Tuesday said that investigators are probing the case.
In a statement to Patch, department reps noted they are “aware “of Heuermann’s connection to Las Vegas.

“We are currently reviewing our unsolved cases to see if he has any involvement,” the statement said.

Heuermann has been charged with six murder counts in the deaths of three women who were sex workers, including Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Lynn Costello. He is the prime suspect in the death of a fourth woman, Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

As part of the ongoing investigation, his DNA has been entered into a state-wide database to match with victims in other unsolved cases, News 12 reported.

In 2010, a Suffolk police cadaver dog named “Blue” with his handler Officer John Mallia located the first set of remains, sparking the Gilgo investigation.

Altogether, 11 sets of remains have been uncovered, including a toddler and an Asian male.
Heuermann’s attorney has not responded to numerous requests for comment by Patch.

He did say to ABC news on Tuesday that Heuermann was “traumatized” by his arrest.

"Nothing struck me as unusual about him. He was articulate, he was intelligent, he was soft spoken," he told the outlet.

Heueraman’s case will be challenging for him, and his co-councils, as he appears to have "been convicted in the media already and the media public opinion," Brown said.

His wife, Asa Ellerup, filed for divorce on Wednesday, The Daily Beast first reported.

As Patch previously reported on Monday, Heuermann has been under suicide watch at an undisclosed location with the Suffolk County Correctional Facility since his arrest.
