Officer Injured While Arresting 16-Year-Old Boy In Nassau: Police
The teenager had been trying to open car doors in Massapequa Park, police said.
MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY — A 16-year-old boy was arrested for assaulting a police officer in Massapequa Park midnight on Saturday, police said.
Officers were dispatched to Lake Shore Drive for a suspicious person who was pulling on car door handles, police said.
The 16-year-old, who fit the description, was seen fleeing on foot, authorities said.

As officers attempted to place him under arrest, the suspect began grabbing his clothing. One officer sustained a severe laceration to his hand from a switchblade, police said.
The injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital and was in stable condition.

The 16-year-old is charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, aggravated assault on a police officer and second-degree assault, police said. He was expected to be arraigned on Saturday at the Youth Section of First District Court in Hempstea.
