Officer Needed Surgery As Man Resists Arrest In Nassau: Police
Joseph Jones was arrested on Monday evening for selling a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, police said.
MASSAPEQUA, NY — An Amityville man was arrested on Monday evening for selling a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, police said.
Joseph N. Jones, 35, was found during an investigation of the parking lot on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa Park, police said.
When detectives attempted to arrest Jones, officers caught him. He resisted, causing injuries
to five officers. One officer required surgery as a result of his injuries.

Jones was also the subject in three prior controlled substance sales of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine:
- Sunday, February 23, William Street, North Merrick
- Wednesday, March 12, 2025, William Street, North Merrick
- Saturday, April 5, 2025, 5204 Sunrise Highway, Massapequa Park.
Jones is charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, assault of a police officer, three counts of second-degree assault and resisting arrest, police said.

He was arraigned on April 22.
