Pearl Sworn in as Village Trustee

The Massapequa Park Village Board is at full strength for the first time since the June death of Harry Jacobson.

Dan Pearl was sworn in at Monday night's board meeting to fill the board's vacant seat.

Prior to the swearing in, Village Mayor James Altadonna paid tribute to Jacobson.

"To know Harry was an honor, to work with Harry was a privilege," Altadonna said.

The mayor went on to say that choosing a successor was  "our final gift to Harry," before  speaking about Pearl.

"What this board will ask him is that he earns and will continue to to earn the privilege of of being called a trustee of the village of Massapequa Park in the same tradition of Harry Jacobson," 

Altadonna then swore Pearl in as his mother Delores and his sons Timothy and Jayden. Unfortunately, Pearl's wife and other child came down with the flu and were unable to attend.

"I want to give back to the community," Pearl said after the meting. "I grew up in Massapequa, I've been a resident of Massapequa Park for 13 years. It's a tremendous place to live ."

Pearl, who also serves as a Deputy Commissioner with the Town of Oyster Bay's Environmental Resources Department, said he will fill out Jacobson's unexpired term and then run for the seat in March. 

"I'm passionate about our parks and judt keeping our community the way it is," he said.
