Police ID Man Who Died In Multi-Vehicle Nassau Crash Saturday Night

MASSAPEQUA, NY — Police have identified the person who died in a multi-vehicle Massapequa crash Saturday night as Willie Singleton, 48, of Bay Shore.

A 19-year-old driver was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and other offenses, including second-degree manslaughter, after the crash that left one person dead, police said.

According to Nassau County police, the crash took place at 9:03 p.m.; Brian Romero Guy, of Medford, who was driving a 2023 white Bentley SUV with a 30-year-old male passenger, was facing eastbound and was stopped in the left turning lane at Unqua Road, officials said.

Romero Guy decided to turn right and cross all lanes of traffic on Sunrise Highway, police said.

A white Polaris Slingshot 3-wheeled motorcycle was driven by Singleton, with his 47-year-old female passenger; they were traveling eastbound in the middle lane on Sunrise Highway when the Bentley struck their vehicle, police said.

The collision then caused the motorcycle to collide with a white KIA SUV that was facing northbound and stopped at a traffic light on Unqua Road and then, to strike a utility pole, police said.

The KIA was driven by a 44-year-old male and was occupied by a 41-year-old female and four juveniles, ages 11, 10, 8 and 2; no one in the KIA was injured, police said.

Singleton suffered severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital ,where he was pronounced by a hospital physician, police said.

The female passenger in the Slingshot also suffered serious injuries but is currently listed in stable condition, police said.

Romero Guy and the passenger of the Bentley were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Romero Guy was arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter; second-degree manslaughter; second-degree assault, and DWI, police said. He will be arraigned when medically practical, police said
