Police Shoot, Kill Man After Chase From Queens To Long Island: Reports

7 officers from Nassau County and New York City, along with one civilian, were injured during the chase, reports indicated.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — Police said they shot and killed a man in Massapequa Park Friday night after a chase that began in Queens and left eight injured, Newsday reported.

At a televised press briefing, Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said, of the ongoing investigation, the "reckless" chase began when the man, trying to flee a traffic stop by the NYPD tried to "ram" the officers and fled.

Next, on Sunrise Highway, officers boxed in the individual, who "decided he wasn't going to stop," hit two other police cars and tried to run over two officers, who dove out of the way; further down the road, he rammed another police vehicle, then went the wrong way and struck a civilian car, Ryder said.
