Seaford Man Killed by Train

A Seaford man who was injured by a Long Island Rail Road train just 24 hours earlier died Monday after being hit by another train, MTA Police confirmed.

Sean Gauci, 37, of Seaford, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck by an eastbound express train while at the Massapequa station, according to MTA spokesman Salvatore Arena.

“This fellow was apparently same fellow who was found Sunday afternoon at the Seaford station with big cut on his head after being grazed by another eastbound train,” Arena said. 

That incident sent Gauci to Nassau University Medical Center, where the MTA said the injured man received visitors as late as noon Monday. NUMC spokeswoman Shelley Lotenberg confirmed Gauci was released Monday. 

The fatal incident happened at 4:13 p.m. The train was bound for Babylon when it struck Gauci.

MTA Police are investigating the incident as a possible suicide.

It was the third death of the long weekend involving the LIRR.

A person was struck and killed at 11:30 p.m. Friday in Queens Village. The MTA has not released the name of the victim.

Jose Alexi Villatoro, 22, of New Hyde Park, was struck and killed at 6:03 a.m. Sunday just west of the Merillon Ave. station, MTA Police said.
