Stop & Shop to Acquire Massapequa Store
The location is one of 25 set to be acquired in the $146 million deal with A&P, which filed for bankruptcy Sunday.

Waldbaum’s in Massapequa is one of 25 stores in New York and New Jersey that will be acquired by Stop & Shop.
The store was acquired Monday as part of a $146 million agreement between The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, which owns the store, and Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC.
The deal, which includes multiple Waldbaum’s, Pathmark, and A&P stores across the region, is subject to the court’s approval of terms in A&P’s bankruptcy case, filed Sunday. The sale is expected to close later this year and will transform the stores into Stop & Shops.
