Suffolk Man Charged In Fatal Massapequa Hit-And-Run: Police
Police say he fled the scene after hitting a 72-year-old woman last November. She died from her injuries a few weeks later.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — A Suffolk County man was arrested for a hit-and-run that killed a 72-year-old woman in Massapequa last year, Nassau County police said.
Nicholas S. Abbaj, 59, of Ridge, was charged in connection with the death of Arlene Fierro, 72 of Massapequa.
According to police, Fierro was hit by a Ford pickup truck while crossing at the intersection of Front Street and Park Lane in Massapequa at 1:23 p.m. on Nov. 15, 2021. She was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries on Dec. 1.

Police say Abbaj was driving the truck that hit Fierro. He was arrested on Feb. 9, and charged with leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death.
He is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
