Summer Day Camp For Developmentally Disabled In Town Of Oyster Bay

The camp runs from July 1-August 9 in Massapequa and Woodbury.

HICKSVILLE, NY — A summer day camp is being offered through the Town of Oyster Bay.

The town's Group Activities Program (GAP) will run the program from July 1-August 9. It will be available at two locations: Marjorie Post Community Park in Massapequa and Syosset-Woodbury Community Park.

"Our Group Activities Program Summer Day Camp is one of the finest programs of its kind in the nation and our activities specialists take great pride in fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere at the day camp," Supervisor Joseph Saladino said.

The camp is scheduled to run 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be open to developmentally disabled children and young adults from ages 5-21.

The focus of the GAP Summer Day Camp is group interaction while providing a well-supervised setting.

Among the activities include swimming, arts and crafts and sports.

The 6-week program costs $250 per child. To register for summer camp, contact the GAP Office at (516) 797-7947.
