Two Massapequa Students Receive Merit Commendations

High School seniors could qualify for corporate scholarships.

The Massapequa School District which already has five students who've been named National Merit semifinalists, has announced that two more students have received letters of commendation  from the prestigious organization.

Massapequa High School seniors Christopher Bonetti and Karan Chhatpar were one of 34,000 students nationwide who received the letter out of the 1.5 million people who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Unlike the five students who were named semifinalists, Christopher and Karan can no longer compete for a national Merit Scholarship, but school officials said they could still qualify for special scholarships sponsored by businesses and corporations.
