Week in Review: Nov. 26-Dec. 2

It's hard to believe that it's been a month since Hurricane Sandy struck our area. It was a week to reflect on the storm and look ahead. 

There was still fallout from the storm with more departures from LIPA.

But there were other events that caught our attention, including a chaotic Thursday in Massapequa which saw a fatal accident and an evacuation at the DMV.

Here's a look back:

The one month anniversary of Sandy came this week but to date there has been no firm announcement on the cost of the storm cleanup. Gov. Cuomo reported an estimate of $44 billion worth of damage in New York state.

In the Town of Oyster Bay, Board members passed a resolution asking FEMA for $15 million in storm reimbursement.

LIPA continued seeing key executives resign in Sandy's aftermath with Chairman Howard Steinberg being the latest to fall on his sword.

Thursday was a tragic day on Sunrise Highway as an elderly driver was killed after plowing into a back of a truck Thursday Afternoon.

Later in the day, the Carmans Plaza shopping area was evacuated and the bomb squad was called in after somebody left a laptop at the DMV. The computer was not deemed dangerous.
