Without Warning

My younger sister, and I shared a very, very small tenement bedroom for 15 years until my marriage.

Ellen could not contain her glee at the prospect of having it finally all to herself..

Sadly that dream was quickly quenched when Mary, our youngest sister, quickly took my place.

During those years Ellen and I had one rule that kept us from fratricide:

“Don’t touch my things.”

I forgot those days until this morning when once again AI invaded my space with another new update.

Overnight, It has categorically "touched" everything on my reliable IPad Pro.

My sister never did that.

Occasionally she "borrowed" the black velvet ribbon I wore around my pony tail, but that was understandable.

What 18.4.1 has done is not.

I work hard to keep my contacts and To Do's intact.

Now they are a mess and it will take hours for me to reconstruct to the "way" I like them.

And possibly by then another new IOS update, 18.4.2, will once again "Invade my space," without warning or apology.

And who knows, perhaps I might even learn to appreciate the changes.

Time will tell if I am too rigid or AI invasive.
