RONKONKOMA, NY — An elderly man and woman were seriously hurt in a fall on an escalator at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma on Saturday afternoon, Town of Islip spokeswoman Caroline Smith said.<a href="https://longisland.news12.com/town-of-islip-2-seriously-injured-in-fall-at-macarthur-airport-escalators" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"></a> The pair had been leaving the airport, coming down the escalator at the East Concourse checkpoint at terminal owned by Southwest Airlines at around 3 p.m, when they fell down, sustaining critical, but non-life-threatening injuries, Smith said. They were taken to Stony Brook Hospital for treatment of their injuries, according to Smith. It's not clear how the pair fell. Patch has reached out to Southwest Airlines for comment.
