Suffolk Home Blaze Sees Response From 10 Agencies

MEDFORD, NY — A blaze broke out at a Medford home early Sunday, drawing area first responders from 10 different agencies, authorities said.

The Medford Fire Department was alerted to a structure fire near Justin Drive at around 6:17 a.m., and found "a well-advanced fire" at a home on Karl Court, Medford fire officials said on the department's Facebook page.

"Crews from Engine 12 and Truck 5 made an aggressive attack saving a majority of the home," the post read, noting all of the residents "escaped without injury."

Two people inside the home escaped to safety, Suffolk police said.

The blaze drew firefighters from Patchogue and North Patchogue, Hagerman, Holtsville, Farmingville, and Yaphank, as well as emergency medical service responders from Medford Volunteer Ambulance.

Department officials thanked the other fire companies for providing mutual aid in the blaze.

The fire is under investigation by the Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshal's office and Suffolk police Arson Squad, department officials said.
