Michael Fitzpatrick Wins 8th AD Election: BOE

LONG ISLAND, NY — Incumbent Republican Assemb. Michael Fitzpatrick appears to have the lead over his Democratic challenger, Steven Basileo, in New York's 8th Assembly District, according to unofficial results from the state's Board of Elections.

Fitzpatrick garnered 62.08% with 48, 797 votes, and Basileo 31.45% with 24, 716 votes.

Fitzpatrick, of St. James, was first elected to office in 2002. In 2022, he garnered 68 percent of the vote, according to Ballotpedia.

Basileo, is a lifelong resident of St. James and works in the Communications Center for Service Employees International Union, according to the Suffolk County Democrats' website. He has a Master's degree in Public Policy from Stony Brook University.
