2 Nassau Teens In Masks, Caught Spray Painting Building, Resist Arrest, Injure Officer: PD

1 teen had a knife and fake ID, police say.

ROOSEVELT, NY — Two teens were arrested in Roosevelt after injuring an officer, police said.

According to Nassau County police, the incident took place at 9:59 p.m. Detectives said officers observed two teens wearing masks, spray painting a building in the area of Mirin Avenue and Park Avenue.

Officers approached the pair, who then fled on foot, police said.

Both teens were apprehended nearby and they both resisted arrest, causing one officer to sustain injuries, police said.

The teens, ages 16 and 17, were then taken into custody without any further incident, police said. The injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.

The 16-year-old was also found to be in possession of a knife and a fraudulent identification, police said. He was arrested and charged with second-degree assault; fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon; third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument; resisting arrest; second-degree obstructing governmental administration; possession of graffiti instruments; and the Title 90 Mask Transparency Act, police said.

He will be arraigned on Thursday at Family Court, police said.
