Schools:Β In observance of the holiday, all schools within the Merrick, North Merrick and Bellmore-Merrick school districts will be closed.
Volunteer Projects:Β Martin Luther King Day is the National Day of Service. Residents are urged to volunteer in their community and plan their own projects.Β Β
Libraries:Β MerrickΒ and North Merrick libraries will be closed.Β
Post Office:Β The U.S. Postal Service will be closed in observance of the holiday.Β
Dreaming with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.:Β Children ages five and up will get the opportunity to investigate the life of Dr. King and use what they learn to produce a piece of artwork at the end of the session at Long Island's Children's Museum. The program will start at 11 a.m. and the admission fee is $3.
