MERRICK, NY — Merrick-based Liberty New York Water has launched an advocacy website dedicated to advancing legislation so extra taxes are removed from customers' bills.

Using the site sstopthehiddentax.org, Liberty is imploring the customer base to make its voices heard.

"We have been laying the groundwork for this initiative since day one of acquiring the water
system," said Deborah Franco, President of Liberty New York Water. "Since then, we have held
countless meetings with elected officials about these two efforts, and we are hopeful that
the overwhelming voice of our customers, who are desperate for rate relief, advances this
needed legislation across the finish line."

"Given the fact that 30 to 50 percent of our customer bills are made up of taxes, the promise
of rate relief is very real if our customers speak up and get these taxes removed from their
bills," Franco added.
