Nassau Man In Drunken Fight Had Gun, Knife: Police

Police say the man was drunk and belligerent and tried to resist arrest.

ROOSEVELT, NY — Nassau County police arrested a man with a gun on him they say got into a drunken fight.

According to police, officer responded to a home on Washington Avenue in Roosevelt at 2:20 a.m. for a report of a fight. When they arrived, police say the officers found Mauricio Cortez Flores, 45, of Roosevelt, drunk and irate.

Police say Flores refused to listen to the officers and tried to resist arrest. The officers managed to get him under control and place him under arrest. Flores was in possession of a gun and a knife, police said.

Flores is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, criminal possession of a firearm and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
