Road Work Scheduled On Southern State Tomorrow Night

A section of the Southern State Parkway that runs through North Merrick and North Bellmore is scheduled to close on Thursday as crews do work on the road.

According to the New York DOT, two lanes of the eastbound Southern State will be closed from 11 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday between exit 24 (Merrick Avenue) and exit 25 (Newbridge Road/Route 106).

The road is only scheduled to be closed for one night as work crews perform maintenance to overhead signs, repair a damaged guide rail and trim trees.

Poor weather could postpone, cancel or prolong the work, the DOT said.
