Second Man Charged In Deadly July 4 Party Shooting: Nassau PD
Two people were injured and one was killed when violence broke out a block party earlier this year.

ROOSEVELT, NY — Nassau County police have arrested a second person in connection with a deadly shooting at a July 4 block party.
Lawrence Sims, 29, of Prospect Avenue, Hewlett, was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one charge of attempted murder.
According to police, two groups got into a fight at the July 4 block party at 7:39 p.m. on Hudson Avenue in Roosevelt. The fight broke out into shooting, and three people were hit.

Tavon Greenhill, 27, of Hempstead was killed. Two other people — a 31-year-old woman from Uniondale and a 21-year-old man from Hempstead — were hospitalized.
On July 27, police arrested 34-year-old Michael Wright, of Beechwood Avenue, Roosevelt. He was charged with second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree attempted murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Sims was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday. He was ordered held on $250,000 cash or $500,000 bond bail, which was not posted.
