17, Mostly Kids, Taken To Hospitals In I-87 Rollover Van Crash: NYSP
The Chevy Express van, carrying 15 children, was traveling south when it hit the back of a Subaru that was slowing for traffic, police said.

NEW WINDSOR, NY — A horrific crash on the New York State Thruway sent more than a dozen people, most of them children, to the hospital.
New York State Police say that on Saturday, around 3:40 p.m., troopers responded to I-87 south, near Exit 17, in the town of New Windsor, after receiving reports of a rollover motor vehicle crash with injuries.
An investigation found that a 2014 Chevrolet Express van was traveling south when it collided into the back of a 2026 Subaru Outback that was slowing for traffic.

The van then rolled over, coming to rest in the left lane, while the Subaru spun onto the right shoulder and struck a sign post.
In addition to the driver, the van contained 15 passengers, including 12 children ranging in age from one to 12 years old.

New Windsor Fire Department members extricated a female who was riding in the front passenger seat of the van. She was taken by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver and four of the children in the van were treated at Garnet Health Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
The remaining passengers in the van also suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and were treated at St. Luke's Hospital.
The driver of the Subaru was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
State police issued the driver of the van tickets because five of the children in the van were not properly restrained.
