2 Accused Of Repeatedly Shooting Victim After Armed Robbery: Indictment
The victim in this case was initially treated at Bon Secours Community Hospital, and then transferred to Westchester Medical Center.

PORT JERVIS, NY — Two have been indicted in a violent armed robbery in Orange County that left the victim seriously wounded.
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that 22-year-old John Selja, of Monroe, and 26-year-old Andrew Delrio, of Washingtonville, were arraigned last week, for allegedly shooting a man during the course of a robbery in the City of Port Jervis on May 6.
The indictment charged Selja with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree attempted robbery, and two counts of second-degree attempted robbery. During arraignment, his bail was continued and he was remanded back to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $500,000 cash bail, or $1,000,000 fully secured bond or $1,500,000 partially secured bond. Selja is next scheduled for a conference on June 12.

Delrio was charged with first-degree attempted robbery, two counts of second-degree attempted robbery, and second-degree hindering prosecution. His bail was continued and he was remanded back to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail, or $150,000 fully secured bond or $250,000 partially secured bond. Delrio is next scheduled for a conference on June 9.
"The dangers of the illegal possession and use of firearms are as clear as ever," Hoovler said. "Thankfully, the violence allegedly perpetrated in this case did not result in fatal injuries, but the senselessness of the alleged conduct is striking. I commend the prompt law enforcement response that ensured these defendants were taken into custody. We will continue to prioritize the investigation and prosecution of violent crime in Orange County.”

According to court documents, on May 6, around 9:28 p.m., Selja and Delrio approached the victim who was in a parked vehicle, on Barcelow Street in Port Jervis.
Selja leaned into the vehicle and tried to take property from the victim, who pushed Selja back. Selja then pulled out a gun and fired at the victim who received serious physical injuries.
A search warrant was later executed at Selja's home, on Penaluna Road in the Town of Warwick, which resulted in authorities finding a firearm that ballistically matched casings recovered from the crime scene.
District Attorney Hoovler thanked the City of Port Jervis Police for their investigation which led to the arrest of the defendants. He also thanked the Town of Warwick Police Department and the Orange County Drug Task Force who aided in the investigation.
