2 Killed In Sullivan County Head-On Crash

Police said the collision occurred near the double yellow lines in the center of the roadway.

COCHECTON, NY — Two people were killed in a head-on car crash Monday in Sullivan County Monday.

The New York State Police said, around 3:45 p.m. Monday, troopers from the Liberty barracks were sent to a two-vehicle cash on Route 97 in the town of Cochecton.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2008 Audi A4, driven by James Card, 34, of Beach Lake, Pennsylvania, was traveling south when it was involved in a head-on collision with a 2020 Hyundai Elantra that was going north and was being driven by Edward Sykes, 24, from North Branch.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the cause of the crash is under investigation.

State police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or seen either of the vehicles prior to the crash to call the New York State Police at 845-344-5300. Reference SJS number 11344581.
