Sheriff Kirk Imperati said he is extremely grateful to all members of law enforcement that continue to respond and is very thankful that the injuries to the deputies weren’t more serious.

"As always the Deputies and City Officers responded quickly and appropriately to this dangerous situation, and I am extremely thankful that we didn’t see even worse injuries," Imperati said. "Many of the situations that we encounter at the shelter can be unpredictable and difficult to deal with, but law enforcement continues to respond and I am very proud of each and every one of them for the job that they do – not only in this instance, but every single day."
