5 Arrested For Selling Drugs In Orange County: DA

Undercover investigators said they purchased narcotics from individuals in and around Middletown and Wallkill.

GOSHEN, NY — Five men were arrested after being accused of having and selling illegal drugs.

Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said Tuesday that five men were charged with crimes pertaining to trafficking cocaine, crack cocaine and ecstasy in the city of Middletown and surrounding areas.

The arrests are part of a multi-agency investigation by the Orange County Drug Task Force, the City of Middletown Police Department and the Town of Wallkill Police Department. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office assisted.

Authorities said, over the course of the past several months, undercover investigators purchased quantities of narcotics from individuals in and around Middletown and Wallkill.

As a result, search warrants were executed, during which police officers recovered quantities of crack-cocaine, ecstasy, $7,170 in United States currency, digital scales and packaging materials for narcotics. A .44 magnum Smith & Wesson, loaded with live ammunition, was also recovered.

Victor Caldwell, 32, Craig Robinson, 36, David Jones, 30, Belvert Garcia, 43, and Henry A. Garcia, 42, were all charged with second-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony.

Caldwell was also charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony.

Hoovler said enforcement actions such as this one help to stem the flow of dangerous narcotics in and around Orange County.

“My office will continue to pursue these actions and seek sentences that correspond to the seriousness of the crime,” he said. “These actions should stand as a clear pronouncement to those who plan to sell drugs in our communities that law enforcement is proactively seeking to make and keep our streets safe.”
