1. Overlook Mountain

This moderate to strenuous 4.6-mile out-and-back trail follows a wide gravel path up to scenic ruins and a summit fire tower. Expect sweeping views of the Catskills, haunting hotel ruins and the chance to spot raptors soaring overhead.


2. Mohonk Preserve – Undercliff/Overcliff Loop

3. Ferncliff Forest

This easy 1.7-mile loop takes hikers through quiet forest with a well-marked path and ends at a fire tower overlooking the Hudson Valley. The trail is shaded, peaceful and ideal for a short nature walk or family outing.


4. Poets’ Walk Park

An easy and scenic 2-mile walk through meadows and lightly wooded trails with benches, rustic bridges and views of the Catskills and Hudson River. It’s a gentle, contemplative landscape said to have inspired 19th-century poets.


5. Black Creek Preserve

This moderate 2.1-mile loop features a suspension bridge, creek crossings and a quiet forest canopy leading to a serene Hudson River overlook. The trail is short but varied, with a rich woodland feel and good wildlife viewing.


6. Burger Hill

A very easy 0.5-mile hike up a grassy knoll with sweeping views of the Catskills and Shawangunks. It’s a perfect picnic or sunset spot with a wide-open, pastoral atmosphere and minimal elevation gain.
