After 24 Hours Of Violence, Green Haven Ordered To Lock Down
Officials said most of the violence in the maximum security level correctional facility was prisoner against prisoner.

STORMVILLE, NY — After 24 hours of violence, Green Haven Correctional Facility in Stormville was ordered to lock down Wednesday.
Acting Commissioner Daniel F. Martuscello III of the New York State Corrections and Community Supervision said the lockdown was for “the safety of staff and the incarcerated.”
He said the facility would undergo a full search which is expected to take several days.

“While most of the violence has involved incarcerated against incarcerated,” Martuscello said, “staff have also been assaulted; including a correction officer suffering a broken nose and another cut by a weapon.”
Green Haven Correctional Facility is a maximum security level facility for men in Dutchess County. The prison has about 2,000 inmates.
