Arlington Hires Superintendent Away From Haldane District
Philip Benante is returning to the Arlington district having served in several positions over the course of his career.

ARLINGTON, NY — A new superintendent of schools for the Arlington school district was appointed Tuesday.
Philip Benante, currently serving as the Haldane Central School District superintendent, was appointed by the Arlington Board of Education to be the next superintendent. He will begin in the new position this summer.
Benante is coming back to the Arlington district, having begun his career as a fifth-grade teacher at Titusville Intermediate School, after which he served as an assistant principal at Arlington High School and a principal at Beekman Elementary School.

He has been the superintendent for the Haldane district since July 2018.
Benante, who lives with his family in Pleasant Valley, said he is honored to join the Arlington community as superintendent.

“My wife and I have called Arlington home for many years,” he said, “and our children have benefitted from the education they have received from Arlington’s dedicated faculty and staff.”
Benante said he was committed to honoring Arlington’s rich history and culture, while keeping the focus on what is needed to ensure the students’ continued success.
He has a bachelor of science in elementary education from SUNY Cortland and a master of science in special education from Mount Saint Mary’s College. He earned a doctorate in educational leadership and policy development in 2018 from Fordham University.
