Hudson Valley Man Accused Of Burglary, Stealing Car, Resisting Arrest
Authorities said two police officers were injured while pursuing the man on foot.
BEACON, NY — A Beacon resident was accused of burglarizing an apartment that was being renovated and then stealing a car in which to get away.
The City of Beacon Police Department said, on Tuesday, officers were called to Tompkins Terrace for a possible burglary.
Workers there said they had stopped someone who had their property that was taken from one of the apartments being renovated. They said the man gave the property back and left the area.

While officers investigated that complaint, a detective sergeant was flagged down on Main street by a woman who said her unoccupied, running vehicle was stolen from the area of Main and South Brett streets.
Shortly after the vehicle was stolen, police said, the car crashed into a light pole on Route 9D near South Avenue.

Soon after that crash, the driver was found by a Beacon police officer on Route 9D near Interstate 84.
As the officer tried to stop the car, the driver started to flee and then very quickly crashed again into a guard rail on I-84 just past the westbound on-ramp.
The man then fled on foot, police said, and was pursued by officers who apprehended him and placed him in custody under the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.
During the foot pursuit, two officers suffered minor injuries from jumping fences. They were treated at St. Luke’s Hospital and released.
Police said Edward Brabham, 54, of Beacon, was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny, both felonies, and second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and fourth-degree criminal mischief, misdemeanors.
He was arraigned in Beacon City Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail because of prior convictions.
