Broadway's Audra McDonald To Headline Bardavon's 2022 Gala

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Tickets are still available for the Bardavon Gala 2022 with six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald.

The gala begins at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House in Poughkeepsie.

Organizers said the intimate evening with McDonald will feature her signature mix of songs from Broadway, the Great American Songbook and more.

She has starred in 12 Broadway shows and received Tonys for "Carousel," "Master Class," "Ragtime," "A Raisin in the Sun," "Porgy & Bess," and "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill."

McDonald is a regular on CBS's "The Good Fight" and HBO's "The Gilded Age" and played Aretha Franklin's mother in the 2021 biopic "Respect."

"With six Tony Awards, she really is Broadway royalty," Bardavon's Executive Director Chris Silva told Patch. "And she's conquered film, television and even the Metropolitan Opera. She's a legendary artist for a legendary theater."

Funds raised by the Bardavon Gala help underwrite many programs that cannot support themselves: education programs and school residencies that bring artists and musicians to local schools and much more.

There will also be a pre-show party at Revel 32 with celebrity Chef David Burke that will feature music by Hot Club of Saratoga and Sean Gallegher. "Something sweet" from Gwenn of Kingston's Stone Soup will finish off the party before heading to the theater at 7:30 p.m.
