Cairo Man Accused Of Leaving Scene Of Accident
Police said the man tried to pass another car, forcing it off the road onto someone's lawn.
CAIRO, NY — A Greene County man was accused of causing an early morning car crash and leaving the scene of the accident in the town of Cairo.
The New York State Police said, around 6:45 a.m. Sunday, troopers were sent to a location on County Route 67 in Cairo for a hit-and-run collision between two vehicles that resulted in injuries.
An investigation found that a 2012 Kia was traveling northwest on Route 67 in Cairo when the driver said that another car, later identified as a 2008 Volkswagen, traveling in the same direction tried to pass the Kia, police said.

The Volkswagen struck the Kia, which made the Kia leave the roadway and strike a ditch. It then damaged a mailbox and mailbox post and the lawn of a home on Route 67, according to the state police.
Of the two passengers in the Kia, one was injured with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Troopers obtained the license plate number and went to a home on Cornell Avenue in Cairo.
Jovan Quillie-Louise Pelton, 24, was identified as the driver of the car.
He was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and operator leave scene of a personal injury accident, second-degree reckless endangerment–property and reckless driving, misdemeanors.
