Connecticut Man Sentenced For Raping A Child

The man's sentence in New York will run consecutive to a prison sentence imposed in Connecticut.

GOSHEN, NY — A Connecticut resident will be spending almost two decades in prison for raping a child.

Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said that on Tuesday Patrick Lynch, 44, of Bethel, Connecticut, was sentenced in Orange County Court to 18 years in prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision.

Lynch had pleaded guilty to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child.

His sentence in New York will run consecutive to a prison sentence imposed in Connecticut, Hoovler said.

Lynch will also be required to register as a sex offender under the New York Sex Offender Registration Act.

Prosecutors said he admitted in court that he, as someone 18 years of age or older, engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct which included at least one act of sexual intercourse, oral sexual conduct, anal sexual conduct or aggravated sexual conduct with a child who was younger than 13.

Hoovler said Lynch’s admitted conduct was deviant and destructive.

“The lengthy sentence imposed is appropriate because there is no adequate response to such behavior short of incarceration for the longest terms possible,” he said. “I hope that the sentence imposed will offer a degree of closure to the victim in this case.”
