Couple Arrested In Robbery Of 89-Year-Old Woman's Home: Sheriff

While the elderly victim was asleep, cash, credit cards, jewelry and other personal items went missing from her home.

ULSTER COUNTY, NY — An attempt to victimize an elderly homeowner backfired, according to police.

The Ulster County Sheriff's Office says that on Nov. 1, an 89-year-old contacted them after she found items missing from her home.

After an investigation, detectives determined that 29-year-old Kristen T. Jones, of Ulster Park, had unlawfully entered the home while the victim was asleep and stole cash, credit cards, jewelry and other personal items.

On Nov. 13, detectives executed a search warrant at the home of Jones and 26-year-old Dean A. Hunlock, and found several stolen items belonging to the the victim.

Jones and Hunlock were then taken into custody.

Jones was charged with felony second degree burglary, felony fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, three counts of felony fourth degree grand larceny and misdemeanor fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property. She was turned over to the Centralized Arraignment Part Court of Ulster County, arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $2,500.00 cash bail.

Hunlock was charged with misdemeanor fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property. He was scheduled to return to the Town of Esopus Justice Court on a future date.
