Everything You Need To Know About Kindergarten Registration in Poughkeepsie

Parents need a number of documents to register their children for kindergarten in Poughkeepsie City School District.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—Kindergarten registration for Poughkeepsie City School District takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 14 to 16 at Poughkeepsie Middle School at 55 College Ave. If your child is eligible for enrollment in Clinton Elementary School, Early Learning Center, Krieger Elementary School, Morse Elementary School or Warring Elementary School, here's what you need to know.

Parents enrolling children at any of these schools will need a few documents.

New York State law requires that all incoming kindergarten students have a physical and a dental health exam before entering school. Parents must supply a certificate stamped by a doctor, physician's assistant or nurse practitioner describing the student's physical condition. A current immunization record or proof of exemption must also be submitted.

Parents should provide their child's birth certificate to prove the child's age. To prove the guardian's identity, a valid, government-issued driver or non-driver ID card can be presented. If applicable, produce proof of guardianship. Proof of residency is required and could include a tax bill, driver's license, utility bill, paycheck stub or tax return, among other items.
