Fareground, A Local Food Access Nonprofit, Is Looking For Volunteers

BEACON, NY — If you're looking for a way to put your time to good use, an iconic Hudson Valley non-profit has an opportunity to do just that.

Fareground, Inc., a food access nonprofit in the Hudson Valley that is focused on getting food to neighbors that need it, is looking for volunteers. More information about Fareground and opportunities to sign up as a volunteer can be found here.

The charitable 501(c)(3), women-run food justice, anti-hunger organization, says it is dedicated to nourishing the community by operating free marketplaces, community fridges, tiny food pantries, and other programs to distribute fresh and prepared foods.

Fareground strives to:

  • Provide local, organic food whenever possible. They work with local farms and organizations to secure donations or affordable food.
  • Honor the community and all of its members, regardless of sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, political beliefs, education levels, or socioeconomic class. They value inclusivity and equity.
  • Meet the needs of the community through collaborative partnerships (i.e. coat drives, food drives, first responders to crises, social services, etc.).
  • Eliminate hunger by creating a bridge between communities and addressing poverty and sustainability. They are continuously examining privilege and disparities and disrupt these whenever possible.
  • Be as ecologically sound as possible and maintain the utmost respect for the environment. They recycle, compost, and avoid disposables whenever possible to prevent waste.
