HYDE PARK, NY — A historic site in the Hudson Valley where the world was changed forever, has been voted among the top Presidents' Day weekend destinations in the U.S.

While it's hard to compete with the Grand Canyon, which came in at the top spot, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum was voted the 6th most popular landmark to visit on Presidents' Day in a survey of families by photobook company Mixbook.com.

Ahead of the holiday, Mixbook surveyed 3,000 American families. The poll sought to uncover which presidential sites they would visit if distance and travel time weren't obstacles.

Respondents cited the Hyde Park attraction's status as the first presidential library for the high interest. The library and museum are viewed as a treasure trove of information about FDR's era. Families said learning about the New Deal, Roosevelt's response to the Great Depression, and his leadership during World War II, offer an appropriate way to mark the holiday. The library is seen as an opportunity to understand how presidential decisions can shape the nation in times of hardship.
