Felony Charges After Driver Crossed Centerline On Rte 9, Causing Multi-Car Crash, Injuries: NYSP

A South Salem woman was airlifted to Westchester Medical Canter, while 3 juveniles received minor injuries, in the crash in Fishkill.

FISHKILL, NY — A terrifying crash has led to felony charges against the unlicensed driver responsible, according to state troopers.

New York State Police say that on Wednesday, around 9:23 p.m., troopers and investigators from the Wappinger barracks, along with the Town of Fishkill Police Department, the Rombout Fire Department, and Empress EMS, responded to a serious multi-vehicle crash near 107 State Route 9, in the town of Fishkill.

Investigators say a white 2000 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck driven by 33-year-old Timothy C. Henion, of Beacon, was traveling south on State Route 9 when it crossed into the northbound lane and struck three vehicles before coming to a stop.

The second vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet driven by 37-year-old Christopher L. Weston, of Wappinger Falls, was traveling north when Henion's pickup entered his lane and struck the front driver's side. Weston was uninjured.

The third vehicle, a 2013 Mini Cooper driven by a 61-year-old woman from South Salem, received significant damage. The driver was found trapped in the vehicle with serious injuries and was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center.

The fourth vehicle, a 2023 Volkswagen occupied by three juveniles, received minor damage. All three were taken to Vassar Brothers Medical Center and Westchester Medical Center for minor injuries.

Henion was also taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After the investigation, Henion was charged with felony second-degree vehicular assault, felony first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (first offense), and traffic violations.

He was arraigned in the Town of Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 secured bond, or a $499,000 partially secured bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 30.
