Felony DWI Arrest With 6-Year-Old In Car On Taconic: NYSP

The Queens man who was arrested in Pleasant Valley refused to provide a blood alcohol sample, according to New York State troopers.

TOWN OF PLEASANT VALLEY, NY — A traffic stop in Dutchess County led to several charges against a Queens man, according to state troopers.

New York State Police say that a trooper from Poughkeepsie pulled over a 2020 Acura traveling south on the Taconic State Parkway, in the Town of Pleasant Valley, on June 3, around 10:48 p.m.

While interviewing the driver, identified as 32-year-old Donny J. Peralta Parra, the trooper noticed signs of intoxication. The trooper administered standardized field sobriety tests, which Peralta Parra failed, according to NYSP.

A six-year-old child was found in the vehicle at the time of the stop, police said.

Peralta Parra was arrested and taken to Poughkeepsie for processing, where he refused to provide a blood sample, according to NYSP.

Peralta Parra was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger (Leandra's Law), and several vehicle/traffic violations.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Pleasant Valley Court on July 29.
