First Lady Jill Biden To Visit Dutchess County Friday

The wife of the president will attend the opening of Dutchess County Mechatronics Lab and then tour an early learning facility.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Dutchess County will be visited by the first lady of the United States Friday.

Jill Biden will be in Fishkill for the opening of Dutchess County Mechatronics Lab in Fishkill, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

The new facility has enrolled students for the fall semester to study automated manufacturing systems in the electronics industry.

Biden is also scheduled to visit the Day One Early Learning Community in Poughkeepsie to highlight the importance of early childhood education and strengthening the educator workforce, according to a spokesperson for Day One.

Besides being the first lady, Biden, who holds a doctorate in education, is a community college educator, a military mother, a grandmother and an author, according to her White House bio.

This isn’t the first time someone from the current administration visited Dutchess County in relation to technology.

In October 2022, President Joe Biden came to Poughkeepsie to tour the IBM facility and speak about creating jobs around the country.
