Freedomland U.S.A. Was Bronx American History Theme Park With Connections To Hudson Valley

Nostalgia presentations available for all organizations.

Bookings for 2026 are beginning to fill the calendar for Freedomland U.S.A. presentations about the American history theme park that was located in the Bronx. Freedomland operated from 1960 until 1964. The land has been occupied by Co-op City for more than 50 years.

Public and private PowerPoint presentations with a memorabilia display are available for Hudson Valley libraries, history societies, horticultural and civic organizations, nonprofit and corporate groups, religious institutions and schools, senior centers and assisted living communities. Presentations have been held at various venues since 2018, including St. Paul's Church National Historic Site (Mount Vernon), Putnam Valley Historical Society and the Alice Desmond Center For Community Enrichment (Newburgh).

All presentation attendees receive an actual Freedomland turnstile token provided by The Frank R. Adamo Freedomland U.S.A. Collection.

Five Different Presentations

Five separate presentations about the history of Freedomland are available.

“Freedomland U.S.A.: The Definitive History” based on the book of the same name that provides a comprehensive focus on the park’s history from conception to closing.

“Freedomland U.S.A.: More Definitive History” based on the book of the same name that discusses the ongoing research that includes unique winter photos of the park with new discoveries that always change the narrative about the park’s history.

“Freedomland’s Long-Lost Photos And Film” offers the only known color photos of Freedomland’s Preview Day from photojournalist and park photographer Arthur Pomerantz. The presentation includes the viewing of “Adventures In Freedomland,” a never-broadcast television pilot episode hosted by Sonny Fox of “Wonderama.”

“Freedomland’s Celebrity Entertainers” begins with the history of the park before focusing on the many character actors and celebrity entertainers.

“The Landscaping Of Freedomland” offers the story about the plantings and other decorative features provided by the same company that landscaped Disneyland. The New York Botanical Garden and local nurseries from Long Island, Westchester County and New Jersey were involved with the park’s land cover.
