Guilty Plea Entered In Esopus Motel Burglary: DA
A Dunkirk man is due to be sentenced in June for the July 2024 break-in, according to the district attorney's office.
KINGSTON, NY — A Dunkirk resident has pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary for breaking into a room at the Capri Motel in Esopus last year and stealing valuables, according to the Ulster County District Attorney’s office.
Jonathan Davis, 36, entered the plea on March 18 in a proceeding before Judge Bryan E. Rounds.
Davis is scheduled to be sentenced June 6.

The break-in happened on July 21, 2024, when a television, electric bike, laptop, speakers, sneakers, and a bed spread were taken from a motel room, according to the district attorney’s office.
The Ulster County Sheriff's Office’s Detective Division secured video surveillance. The video showed Davis leaving the victim’s room carrying items and bringing them to his own room, prosecutors said. Detectives executed a search warrant for Davis’ room and recovered some stolen items, according to the district attorney’s office.

Detectives also secured DNA evidence which linked Davis to the burglary scene, prosecutors said.
