Health Quest Names Director of Clinical Research

From Health Quest: "My mission is to enrich the patient experience and deliver more options for education, care and support to patients,” Roos said. “I intend to engage with the community to identify interests and needs that can be addressed by clinical research innovation. Clinical research relates to clinical trials, the study of medical treatment in humans. The treatments studied during trials include drugs, devices and techniques. Clinical trials determine the safety and effectiveness of a specific treatment, allowing doctors to determine methods to improve healthcare and find betters means of preventing, diagnosing and treating diseases.

A multilingual physician fluent in Spanish and proficient in Japanese, Roos most recently worked for two Wall Street healthcare startups. At The Expert Institute in New York City, he served as an associate director of medical research, providing scientific and clinical case reviews, as well as consultation for medical malpractice and personal injury litigation. He served Data Driven Delivery Systems in New York City as the New York manager of provider engagement and implemented Medicare risk-adjustment programs across more than 300 primary care practices for quality improvement and reimbursement optimization for the city’s highest-risk populations.

Immediately following his medical training, Roos held an academic position in neurology as a clinical research physician at the Sergievsky Center of Neurodegenerative Diseases and Dementia at Columbia University Medical Center in Manhattan. During this time, he served as a sub-investigator on a global prospective biomarker study for Parkinson’s disease, funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Biomarker studies examine the presence of measurable substances that may influence or predict disease in individuals.

Roos received his undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University and has a graduate research background in neurophysiology. He earned his medical degree and completed his postgraduate training in family medicine at New York Medical College in Valhalla. He pursued his master’s degree in public health at Mt. Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in Manhattan. He has completed his master’s coursework and is nearing completion of his thesis in management and healthcare policy.
