Highland Man Caught Red-Handed Stealing Restaurant's Cash: Police

Authorities said the man was on probation and has more than 20 previous arrests.

HIGHLAND, NY — An Ulster County man was arrested after being accused of stealing from a Highland restaurant.

The Town of Lloyd Police Department said Shane M. Burr, 41, of Highland, was charged Monday with third-degree burglary, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Police said officers were sent to a burglary in progress Monday at the Asian Garden Restaurant on Main Street in Highland.

A search was made, and police said they found Burr inside the restaurant stealing cash.

Burr is on probation, according to law enforcement, and has 23 prior arrests.

He was arraigned in the Town of Lloyd Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail on $50,000 bail.

Burr is due back in court Thursday.
