Hudson Valley Brewery Medals At Great American Beer Festival

There were six breweries in New York that received either silver or bronze medals in the prestigious competition.

BEACON, NY — Out of six New York breweries that won medals this past weekend at the Great American Beer Festival one is located in the Hudson Valley.

The festival that wrapped up Saturday in Denver is the nation’s largest for professional brewers and hands out some of the industry’s most sought-after accolades. The festival ran over nine days, with 250 beer experts from 10 countries serving as judges.

Judges evaluated nearly 9,445 entries from 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, including collaborations between professional breweries and pro-am collaborations from professionals and amateurs. Among those, 303 medals were awarded to 263 breweries across 99 categories and 175 beer styles. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded.

In the Hudson Valley, Industrial Arts Brewing Co. in Beacon took a bronze medal for its American pilsener called Week 365.

  • New York Beer Project in Lockport, for its classic saison Disco Elephant: silver medal
  • Blue Point Brewing Co. in Patchogue, for its contemporary American-stye lager Shouganai: silver medal
  • Relative Risk Brewing Co. in Penn Yan, for its fruit wheat beer Inclusion Criteria: silver medal
  • Great South Bay Brewery in Bay Shore, for its honey beer Jetty: silver medal
  • Coney Island Brewing Co. in Brooklyn, for its honey beer Valhallale: bronze medal
